Quebec City – Je me souviens

Quebec City and its world renowned historic district of Old Quebec represent the essence of Canada’s colonial history. The exceptionally well-preserved ramparts, fortifications and buildings of Old Quebec is like stepping into a time machine, warping back to an age where walled cities were still the defense strategy of choice. The rich tapestry of boutiques, galleries, cafes and world class restaurants provide an endless array of pleasure and adventure. It is astounding that a site like this exists in North America, and UNESCO rightly recognized this when they listed it as a World Heritage Site, recognizing it as an “exceptional example of a fortified colonial town and by far the most complete north of Mexico”. Je me souviens (French for “I remember”) is the motto of Quebec and also the three words that best describe my feelings every time I visit this singular, dazzling place.
